Quick LinksStatus of Transitional KindergartenThe recent release of the Governor's proposed budget for the 2012-2013 school year eliminates the funding of the newly implemented Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program. Given this budget uncertainty, the Hemet Unified School District's TK Program will not be implemented unless the funding for the TK program is included in the final adopted State budget. As a result, the District will not be conducting registration for the TK program at this time. If you were planning on enrolling your child into the Hemet Unified School District's TK program, please be aware of the uncertainty around this program as you consider options for the 2012-2013 school year. If you are interested in being notified if and when the TK program is implemented, please call Ann Moore in Centralized Registration at 951-765-5100, ext 3520 and ask to be placed on the notification list. Please note that the new age requirement to be eligible for Kindergarten for the 2012-2013 school year is for the child to turn five years old on or before November 1. Parents/guardians may pick up a registration packet at Centralized Registration beginning March 1, 2012. Kindergarten registration begins on April 9, 2012. Hemet usd solar project scheduleExample of a Shade Structure Hemet Unified School District entered into a Solar Power Purchase Agreement with Tioga Energy Inc on February 15, 2011 to purchase electrical power from photovoltiac panels that will be installed on 16 District owned sites. The design and plan approval stage for the installation of "solar panels" (photovoltaic cells) on shade structures throughout the District was from March 2011 through June 2011. The construction phase of the project will begin about the middle of September 2011. Upon completion of the project Hemet Unified School District will have approximately 4.4 Mega Watts of solar power providing electricity to its schools. Ground Breaking Ceremony Tioga Energy Inc. hired Johnson Controls Incorporated (JCI) to run the daily operations of the solar panels. The Solar Power Purchase Agreement sets the price per kilowatt hour at a lower rate than the district is currently purchasing it for and will save the district about $300 thousand dollars per year.
