Ramona Elementary Video Project

Ramona Elementary School is excited to announce a community video project that not only involved some of the students at the school, but the community as well. With the help of a $500 grant from the Hemet Alumni Association, a video was produced about the community though the eyes of the students. Teachers, Mrs. Nancy Julian and Mrs. Cynthia Cooney, took this opportunity as part of community focus in their social studies curriculum to counter some of the negative issues in the city of Hemet by pointing out some of the great activities and places the city has to offer.

Nancy and Cynthia guided their students through the process which included researching and writing 30-second information spots that were videotaped either on location or green-screened. Students conducted interviews with various business leaders and city officials and volunteered to work on their presentations and interview skills after school. Now that it is finished, the students hope to link their video to the City of Hemet as well as Hemet USD and Valley Connection. This was a positive and educational experience for the students.

Trustee Vacancy Process

The application period for the vacancy in Trustee Area 1 has closed. Eligible and qualified applicants will be interviewed at a meeting of the Governing Board on June 4, 2013, and the successful candidate will be provisionally appointed at that time. It is anticipated that the appointee will be sworn in at the regularly scheduled Board meeting on July 16, 2013.
