A school or district curriculum is the course of study for all subject areas at each grade level. In California, the course of study is provided in the Content Standards. These standards were designed to encourage the highest level of academic achievement of every student by:

  • defining the knowledge that should be acquired by the student;
  • defining the concepts that should be acquired by the student; and
  • defining the skills that should be acquired by the student.

This section of the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment web site contains the content standards in English-Language Arts, Mathematics, History-Social Science, Science, and Technology.
